Operating Instructions for the
'Bush Power 12/50A Charger'
• Before Charging – READ THE INSTRUCTIONS
• Do not expose to rain
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible
for their safety
• Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance
• Service should only be performed by qualified technicians
Instructions for use
• During charging, the battery must be placed in a well ventilated area (for chargers for lead-acid batteries)
• Warning – do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries
• The charger must only be plugged into and earthed socket-outlet (for portable class I battery chargers)
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
• The 12/50A smart charger is designed to charge 12 Volt DC sealed lead Acid & standard lead acid storage batteries. Combinations of batteries up to a maximum of 320AH can be charged simultaneously. (example: 3 X 100AH batteries = 300 AH or 4 X 80 AH batteries = 320 AH)
• Before connecting charger to new battery or battery bank, power up unit to 240vac supply. Observe both voltage & ammeter display “00” & green standby led is on.
• Connect DC output to battery or bank of batteries. Should you accidently reverse polarity the charger will detect this & an audible alarm will be emitted. (re-connect correctly). the smart charger will immediately determine the size of battery to be charged & its charge state.
• The ammeter will display the current in amps being delivered. The voltmeter will display the terminal voltage of the battery or battery bank at all times whilst connected.
• The red led is displayed whilst chargeing in the “high charge” mode – 20 – 50 amps.
• The yellow led is displayed whilst chargeing in the low charge mode – 1 – 20 amps.
• When the battery or bank of batteries is fully charged correctly the green led will be displayed. This is the standby or float state & the voltmeter will indicate the terminal voltage with the ammeter displaying “00” – no further charge will be delivered to the battery until the terminal voltage drops below 12.3vdc.
• As long as the smartcharger remains connected & 240vac is switched on the unit is in standby & will continue to “top up” the battery as required.
• If 240vac is switched of or unplugged the ammeter will not indicate a reading, however the voltmeter will indicate the terminal voltage of any battery or bank of batteries the charger is connected to via the dc output connector.
